Small, yet mighty.
The UNBC men’s soccer team is hoping the ‘good things come in small packages’ saying bodes well in the case of its recent recruit, five-foot-six Reid Adams.
Adams joins the Timberwolves ahead of the 2019-2020 Canada West season.
“I have always wanted to do this. Soccer has been a big part of my life, and you want to be the best you can,” said Adams. “That’s what this is. This is one of the best facilities I have ever seen, honestly. The team is all great guys. I can’t say a bad thing about it.”
The winger is said to play with the pace and intelligence that the Timberwolves have become known for around the conference.
Over the winter, Adams visited UNBC and trained alongside the Timberwolves where he was able to turn his small-stature into a positive aspect of his game on the pitch.
A native of Victoria, the 17-year-old joins a Timberwolves roster that already has a number of key contributors from Vancouver Island. Those connections, along with UNBC coach Steve Simonson’s link to the provincial capital, aided Adams’ decision to join the Green and Gold.
The product of the Vancouver Island Wave and Lakehill Division 1 programs, Adams will graduate from Reynolds Secondary in June before enrolling in biomedical studies at UNBC.
He will attend training camp with his Timberwolves teammates in late July.
