Prince George Cougars’ forward Matéj Toman has been named to Czech Republic’s roster for the 2019 IIHF Men’s World U18 Hockey Championship.
The 18-year-old is one of 14 forwards that make up the 25-man Czech roster. Toman finished tenth in team scoring this past season with the Cougars, as he compiled nine goals and 11 assists in 66 games.
The 2019 IIHF Men’s World U18 Hockey Championship is from April 18-28 in Örnsköldsvik and Umeå, Sweden.
This won’t be Toman’s first time representing his country as he has represented the Czech Republic on the international stage before, playing for the Czechs at the 2018 Hlinka-Gretzky Cup last August. He also won a bronze medal at the 2017 World U17 Hockey Challenge in Dawson Creek and Fort St. John, BC.
The Czechs open the tournament on Thursday against Belarus.
