Six-game suspension for ex-Cougar

The WHL announced that Victoria Royals’ Kody McDonald has been suspended for six games after being ejected during a playoff game in Kamloops back on March 27.

The league announced the duration of the suspension today after it initially being labelled as indefinite, which allowed the league to look further into the incident.

McDonald, a former Prince George Cougar, was assessed a five-minute match penalty at the 7:58 mark of the third period of Victoria’s 6-3 loss at Kamloops, which was Game 4 of the best-of-seven first-round series between the Royals and Blazers.

The 20-year-old has served two games of his suspension and will be eligible to return on April 13 for Game 5, if necessary, of Victoria’s second-round series against the Vancouver Giants.
