A lockdown was quickly lifted this afternoon (Wednesday) at Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake after reports of a man inside, armed with a knife, were determined to be false.
North District RCMP media relations Corporal, Madonna Saunderson said a lockdown was initiated at around 2:08 pm.
“Frontline responders from Williams Lake immediately attended the hospital to conduct a search and located an adult male outside of the hospital,” she said.
“The male attempted to flee from the police and after a short foot chase the 26-year-old Williams Lake man was arrested.”
Through the investigation, Saunderson said it was determined the man did not have a knife as originally reported.
“However his behaviour was medically related and not criminal in nature.”
No one was injured.
