The Teen Art Showcase will be awarding five area teens on Saturday, February 23 at the Prince George Public Library.
The showcase, in its second year, is a collaboration between the Community Arts Council and the library, growing from 25 submissions last year to 40 separate pieces of art this year.
“We were trying to think of some ways to get more teens using the library, but to also give them a sense of ownership over the space,” said Communications Coordinator, Amy Dhanjal regarding how the idea came to be to hold the art exhibition.
40 pieces of artwork will be judged in five different categories with winners taking home cash prizes of $200, made possible by B.C. Gaming, the Prince George Community Foundation and the Kiwanis Club of Prince George.
The categories being judged include Most Original, Best Use of Materials, People’s Choice, Best Overall, and Social Commentary.
The art has been on display since February 1 and will be kept on display on the walls of the Keith Gordon Room until the end of the month.
