Cirque du Soleil takes the stage at CN Centre Wednesday night for “Dralion”.
Touring Publicist Julie Desmarais says you can expect a lot of energy
“We have 52 world-class performers, coming from 19 different nationalities,” she explains. “It’s a mix of Chinese acrobatics blended with Cirque du Soleil’s flair for the circus , so you can expect a lot of eye-level acrobatics like hoop-diving, trampoline , and beautiful aerial numbers.
The show features a Chinese fable about creatures that are a hybrid between lions and dragons and their relationship with Earth’s elemental forces.
Desmarais says it was Prince George’s turn to finally see Cirque du Soleil, outside of its usual “big-top” setting.
“The arena allows us to bring the show closer by setting up in 12 hours and performing seven to eight shows a week, then moving to the next city,” she explains.
But there won’t be many “next cities” for “Dralion” , because after 15 years and just over 5,000 shows, Prince George will be one of its final performances.
“The cycle of life for “Dralion” has come to an end,” she says. “We’ll be performing our best shows every night in Prince George, it’s our first time visiting the city and we’re very excited. The synergy on stage is very strong and we hope to get the energy from the local Prince George fans.”
