A grizzly encounter for the leader of the BC Conservatives.
Vanderhoof native Dan Brooks says he was guiding a moose hunter earlier this week when he came across a grizzly bear near a moose carcass, 25 yards from them.
Before he knew it, the bear charged at them – “There’s a bit of panic, absolutely,” he says. “Believe it or not, the most calming influence in that whole situation was the sound of my rifle shot, which made me think ‘Okay, get your stuff together, because this could be it, you could get mauled here if you’re not ready for a second shot’.”

Brooks says his shot in the dirt scared the bear enough to leave, no doubt leaving the Conservative leader with a few more grey hairs.
