UPDATE: Road re-opened after unchained semis cause closure at Peden Hill

Update at Noon:

Highway 16 Westbound at Peden Hill has re-opened.

Original story:

Peden Hill on Highway 16  is shut down for Westbound traffic.

According to Srg. Cruz of the Prince George RCMP, three semi-trucks had problems going up the hill due to the recent snowfall and a lack of chains.

The Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement (CVSE) Branch are on scene and handing out tickets to the drivers for failure to oblige to the road conditions and chain their trucks.

Cruz expects the road to be open in the next hour, around 12:00 pm.

We will be updating as information becomes available.
