The referendum has spoken, and BC voters are 61% in favour of keeping our current electoral system.
“I think it’s great, it’s a wide margin of approval from the residents of BC in voting down proportional representation,” Mike Morris, MLA for Prince George-Mackenzie.
Morris said it’s the third time in 15 years that BC has voted against electoral reform, he was expecting that First Past the Post would prevail again.
“British Columbians aren’t stupid, you can’t sell them a pig in a poke like the NDP was trying to do. People aren’t going to buy anything or vote for anything that they don’t really understand, and I think that was demonstrated in spades by the outcome,” he said.
“I think British Columbians have spoken loud and clear. We just wasted 15 million dollars and a lot of time that would have been better spent on other things.”
