Starting his third full season with the team, Josh Curtis has been given the “C” by the Prince George Cougars.
The Cougars, on the day they begin their 25th season, named the 20-year-old forward from Winnipeg the 24th captain in franchise history.
The team also announced four alternate captains.
They are Joel Lakusta, Jackson Leppard, Josh Maser, and Ryan Schoettler.
“Just seeing how Curtis carries himself and the respect he gets from his teammates and coaches makes him a true leader for this group,” said Cougars’ general manager, Mark Lamb in a team release.
“Josh is everything you want in a captain,” said Head Coach Richard Matvichuk.
“He does everything right, even the little things, and he’s the guy you want your younger players following.”
Curtis has 70 points (18G, 52A) in 154 career regular season games with the Cougars.
“It’s truly special, an honour to wear a ‘C’ for this organization,” said Curtis.
The Cougars visit the Victoria Royals tonight and Saturday.
They have their home opener in a week on Friday, September 28th against the Kelowna Rockets.
