The National Chief of the Congress of Aboriginal People is making her first visit to Prince George this evening.
Chief Betty Ann Lavallee will be hosting a meet and greet at the Native Friendship Centre that will encourage input and feedback from the local community.
Lavallee says these events are a welcome change for her;
“I look forward to these sessions. To me this is what it’s all about; being able to get out there and connect with the people on the ground. I hear from politicians all the time, this is my time with the people”
The stop is a part of her National Grassroots Engagement Tour. Across the country she says issues like housing, homelessness, education and missing and murdered women are consistently raised, but she is interested to see what Prince George is dealing with.
The event runs from 630pm-930pm.
