Fine print is forcing out the front runner of the race for Dick Harris’s Conservative Prince George-Cariboo riding.
The party won’t be accepting TJ Grewal’s bid because he is 7 days short of the 6 month party membership requirement.
A frustrated and disappointed TJ speculated that the placement of the deadline dates was suspiciously convenient for other candidates;
“It did not seem reasonable, and no explanation has been given and the fact that it is quite possible that there was perhaps interference from others who had access to my member ship and would have known”
The party has shown some flexibility in the past on the rule, but not this time despite Grewal being a member in the past and being the frontrunner in terms of member sign ups.
He says he is still undecided on who he will direct his 1500 members to vote for. The three remaining candidates are Todd Doherty, Nick Fedorkiw and Sharri Green.
Most consider the winner of the race to in all probability become the next MP for the region as PG is historically a blue stronghold.
