Members of the UNBC Timberwolves soccer and basketball squads rallied for kids in paediatric care at University Hospital hospital Wednesday.
Basketball Forward Franck Olivier Kouagnia calls it a great chance to give back to the community.
“I was the first to stand and say ‘Hey, I’m going to do this’,” he says. “You don’t get this often and these little kids are going to be the future ”us’, they are going to be, maybe future soccer players, maybe future basketball players. It’s always good to give back.”
Kouagnia calls it as valuable experience for the players as it is for the kids.
“It’s cool for them too, just to see how the guys playing for the school are, so they can have an idea who we are, we try to share our experience and hear from them too, it’s pretty cool,” he says.
Players from the men’s and women’s basketball and soccer squads stopped by with tickets in hand to the Timberwolves’ upcoming home games.
For Basketball Centre Emily Aase, it’s all about seeing the kids’ faces light up.
“It’s just awesome that they’re just so excited to see us and that they’ll be coming to the games, they’ll be a part of that,” she says.
