Days after being selected as the organization’s player of the month for June, the Chicago Cubs have decided to give Jared Young a boost.
The Prince George product has been called up from the South Bend Cubs to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans of the Carolina League, the Cubs’ Class ‘A’ Advanced affiliate club, two steps beneath the major leagues.
The now 23-year-old was assigned the first-base position, made his first appearance with the Pelicans on Sunday, and recorded his first RBI in his new team’s 8-7 loss to the Buies Creek Astros.

Chicago selected Young in the 15th round of the 2017 Draft out of Old Dominion University (ODU).
He is the highest pick of any Prince George player in the history of the MLB draft.
