Single-A South Bend infielder Jared Young of Prince George has been named the Chicago Cubs minor league player of the month for June.
The 22-year-old Young battedĀ .340 (34-for-100) with four doubles, two triples, five homers, and 27 RBI’s in 27 June games.
Young, named a mid-season Midwest League All-Star, has a .304 (77-for-253) batting average with 13 doubles, six triples, nine homers and 52 RBI’s in 67 games for South Bend this season.
He has played mostly at first base (49 games) but has also seen action in left field (13 games) and second base (two games).

The Cubs selected Young in the 15th round of the 2017 Draft out of Old Dominion University.
He is the highest pick of any Prince George player in the history of the MLB draft
Young has a .288 career batting average (113-for-393) with 10 homers and 67 RBI’s, plus a .341 on-base percentage in 106 games.
