Forest Council declares BC's forest industry "in good shape"

The state of British Columbia’s Forest industry was the topic of discussion at a pair of meetings in both Prince George and Williams lake over the past week.

The competitiveness and impacts of the industry on the Regional and Provincial economy we’re among topics brought up.

James Gorman is the CEO of the Council of Forest Industries, and talked about the industries numbers.

“In British Columbia, we’re 52% of softwood lumber production in Canada,” he says. “We create about $12.4 billion in contribution to the Gross Domestic Product in this province, we generate about $31 billion in revenue.”

Gorman says they are in good shape currently, and they continue to diversity their markets and sustainable practices while innovation of new products and markets continues to expand.
