UPDATE:
Prince George RCMP say a woman has succumbed to her injuries following a collision near the College of New Caledonia (CNC) earlier today.
Before 5PM, an incident was reported of a single vehicle hitting a female pedestrian along Highway 97 between 18th and 22nd Avenues.
Police have confirmed the victim was a student at the post-secondary institution.
A 47-year-old woman has been arrested for impaired driving and police remain on scene to investigate the situation.
No other information is being released.
Highway 97 has re-opened in both directions between 15th Avenue and the Highway 16 junction as of 9PM this evening.
The stretch was closed for nearly three-and-a-half hours as a result of the incident.

“We are deeply saddened by the news tonight that one of our students has died as a result of this collision,” says CNC President Henry Reiser in a statement.
“Our first thoughts go out to the student’s family, to whom we offer our sincerest condolences. We also grieve with those closest to this student, including roommates, friends, classmates and instructors who were with them during their time on campus.”
CNC says support services will be available tomorrow for students and employees on the Prince George campus.

ORIGINAL STORY:
One person is in hospital in serious condition after being struck by a vehicle.
The incident happened just before 5PM on Highway 97 between 18th Avenue and 22nd Avenue by the College of New Caledonia (CNC).
The pedestrian was transported to hospital by an ambulance and the driver of the vehicle remained on scene.
The highway is expected to be closed for several hours while officers investigate.
