Safe, accessible, and affordable seniors home opening soon

A new three storey, 27-unit seniors home, called Ts’oo Yoh or House of Spruce, is slated to open soon on Spruce Street.

The building is a project undertaken by the Aboriginal Housing Society of Prince George to provide safe, accessible and affordable housing for residents over 55.

The complex has one-bedroom units ranging from $665 to $765 per month.

Christos Vardacostas, Executive Director says it took five years for construction to start.

“Between financing and funding with different organizations, including BC housing, and it took quite a while to determine what avenue to take to make it happen. At the same time, there were studies to confirm the needs and other various pieces that were time-consuming.”

Vardacostas says this new home could represent changes in the organization when it comes to helping people in the community.

The home is located at 1811 Spruce Street and is slated to open in a few weeks.
