Cariboo unemployment numbers lower than Provincial average

StatsCan released its report regarding unemployment rates earlier this morning.

The Cariboo region has fared quite well over the course of the year with a unemployment rate of 4.9 percent, down from 5.8 the previous year.

Vincent Farao with says the region has seen lower numbers than the rest of the province and the Nation:

“In the Province the unemployment rate is 6.1%, and the Provincial rate is lower than the National rate. The National rate was 6.5% in October. So the Cariboo area has the lowest of all three”

Healthcare and educational services seem to be where the growth and employment has occurred, while construction and retail has seen a slight decline overall for a change of around 2000 jobs.

Something going on in the Prince George area you think people should know about?
