The BC government is matching contributions to the Canadian Red Cross and will match donations up to $20 million to help those impacted by the recent devastating floods.
This announcement was made by Premier John Horgan who says the government should do its part to help.
“British Columbians will always be there for each other in times of crisis. We’re seeing incredible strength and resilience in communities affected by flooding – and British Columbians from all corners of the province want to provide a helping hand. Donations to the Canadian Red Cross will provide vital help in a time of greatest need for so many people and communities.”
The Red Cross has already begun to support local authorities to help people who are affected by flooding, which has forced the evacuation of 2,000 properties.
The dollar-for-dollar donation campaign starts running today and ends July 31st.
