Seven Prince George Special Olympics Power-lifting Athletes all finished in the top three of their respective weight classes at the season-ending Provincials in Victoria.
Five of them captured gold.
The athletes have been training under the watchful eye of Special Olympics coach Jay Cooke since October.
Prince George’s Results are as follows:
- Calvin Vanderwoerd, 1st (66kg)
- Ruth Caldwell, 1st (74kg)
- Brandon Meise, 1st (74kg)
- Leif Skuggedal, 1st (93kg)
- Diana Bramble, 1st (94kg)
- Sam Russell, 2nd (74kg)
- Marinka VanHage, 3rd (94kg)
It was the first power-lifting competition for Vanderwoerd, Meise, Russell, and VanHage.
