Prince George Farmers Market looking forward to fresh start downtown

A new era is on the horizon for the Prince George Farmers Market as they cut the ribbon on their new location at 1310 3rd Avenue.

The ceremony is set for Saturday morning and Mayor Lyn Hall will be doing the honors.

The local market might fall victim to a lower volume in the beginning due to the late spring.

“We’re down on our produce just because its the springtime and I’m just getting ready to seed my own and plow the fields, we do have some greenhouse crops their and the artisans have crafts as well, ” says Phil Myatovic, PG Farmers Market President.

He adds they’re looking forward to expanding the area in the not too distant future.

“We’re trying to make it a big local entrepreneurship selling area.”

“The new location is a lot more centralized as we’re right up the street from where we were near Queensway and it’s more accessible as we have more parking here with a lot so we can get more people to the market.”

The Community Arts Council is expected to join the new location as well.

The local farmers market was forced to move from their location on Sixth Avenue due to some future development in that area.

Market hours are expected to remain the same from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM.
