Permanent closures are taking place downtown Prince George as the City works on their multi-year development plan.
On Monday, portions of George Street and Sixth Avenue permanently closed for major utility operations. George Street between 7th avenue and Patricia Blvd permanently closed to allow construction of the parkade and housing development next to City Hall. Later in the summer, 6th Avenue between Quebec Street and Dominion Street will be permanently closed for development of a proposed new hotel.
The City of PG wants to remind the public of the free off-street parking available on weekday evenings from 5pm onwards, all day Saturday and Sunday at City Hall, The Plaze Parkade (lower level) and the Days Inn lot starting Monday.
The City operates five parkades and seven parking lots that can be rented out on a month-by-month basis. Rates start at $53.73 to $132.25.
There are also six locations that offer an hourly $1 per hour or daily $6 per day rate. These areas are also free everyday after 5pm and all day Saturday and Sunday.
