Three new programs have been approved by SD57, in the hopes of developing students futures.
The board authorized the approval of Outdoor Education 10, which is a hands on practical based course focusing on developing skills in areas of environment responsibility and conservation.
Athletic Coaching 12, with the goal aimed develop many aspects of coaching and leadership, skills to manage diversity in sports, and practical experience of coaching a team.

Finally, RCMP Youth Academy, with the big idea to focus on how students can understand legal rights and to open up the doors for a variety of career choices available within law enforcement.
Trustee Tony Cable says bringing in these courses will introduce students to new skills.
“If you look at the courses being offered, the RCMP Academy is an excellent one, especially for students that are interested in a possible career in the military or the RCMP because it gives them a real immersion of what to expect.”
He also added programs like the Athletic Coaching can benefit more just students.
“That’s such a need in our community to encourage coaches to work with teams and to learn how to deal with parents and the politics. So, these courses are really important.”
The learning innovation department is always trying to encourage teachers to come up with programs like these to engage students on their interests.
