A redevelopment planned for Ron Brent Park has warranted an open house Tuesday night.
A portion of the park was part of a sale to accommodate construction of what is now the Riverbend Seniors Community.
The project has a budget of $400,000 and includes paved trails, recreation facilities, horseshoe pits, raised gardens, benches, picnic tables, and lighting.
“This is the second of three possible phases of the redevelopment of the park. The first was the installation of a new playground and field at Ron Brent Elementary in partnership with School District 57, which was completed last year,” says City Strategic Park Planner and project manager, Laurie Kosec in a statement.
“The third phase of redevelopment, pending future funding, could include a pickleball court and winter skating surface, a toboggan hill platform, outdoor fitness equipment, and additional horseshoe pits among other amenities.”
The open house runs from 5pm to 8pm at the Ron Brent Elementary School gym.
