Kayla Gordon of Prince George is the Canada West women’s third star of the week after leading the Trinity Western University (TWU) Spartans to a pair of basketball wins in quarter-finals.
The fifth-year business student helped the Spartans make program history, as she averaged 18.5 points and eight rebounds per game in helping TWU to the Canada West semifinals for the first time ever.
In a 62-53 victory over Alberta, the five-foot-11 forward hooped 20 points to go along with four rebounds and four assists.
The next day in a 70-64 win, the Cedars Christian grad had 17 points, 12 boards and three assists.
Gordon shot a team-leading 54.2 per cent in the sweep.
TWU will visit Saskatchewan in a best of three series that begins Thursday in Saskatoon.
Gordon was instrumental in TWU’s record-setting regular season, as she averaged 13.8 points and 8.7 rebounds per game while helping the Spartans post a program-best 16-4 record.
