A Prince George man is $7 million richer and laughing all the way to the bank after winning last month’s Daily Grand Draw.
Mike Jansen claimed the lump-sum from the national lottery rather than the $1,000-a-day for life, wanting to book travel plans to Australia and Europe, and no plans to retire just yet.
“We just wanted to get started on our plans right away; we don’t have to do no wait so long and we can start doing some of these things we’ve always wanted to do right away.”
He says it took him 20 minutes to convince his wife they hit the jackpot.
“You never really think it’s going to happen to you. I mean everyone says that, but it’s so true! You know, one number after another came and finally, they all matched and it was like ‘This can’t be right,’ and I had to convince my wife for 20 minutes because she thought I was pulling your leg.”
The 55-year-old is the first BC winner of the Daily Grand Lottery.
The winning ticket matched all five numbers required to play, and was purchased at the Parkwood Place Save-On-Foods.
