New webcams have been installed along different routes in British Columbia to give people a bird’s-eye-view of the road just in time for the holiday.
DriveBC highway camera has 11 new cameras and 40 new webcam views.
On Highway 16 heading west towards the BC-Alberta boarder there has been a new camera installed to view the Yellowhead highway.
There are now approximately 6 cameras on Highway 16 heading towards Prince George.
“Planning ahead and checking conditions before hitting the road is important for safe travel, and the DriveBC network is a tremendous tool for drivers,” said Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Claire Trevena. “These new webcams and views mean people have even more resources at their disposal, no matter where their travels take them, especially in the winter months.”
Other areas where where webcams have been installed are:
- Highway 1 at West Shore Parkway
- Meadows Junction- Highway 3 at Highway 3B Junction
- Alex Fraser Bridge/Annacis Channel Bridge approach/Highway 91 connector
- Highway 97 Taylor
The Province is encouraging members of the public to check DriveBC before heading out on the roads to avoid any incidents.
There is now nearly 700 highway cams at more than 380 locations throughout the province.
