Liberal Members Relieved Site C Will Be Built

The approval of the Site C Hydroelectric Dam has Liberal members happy, but also a bit frustrated.

When the NDP came into power they created a review which threatened more than 2,000 jobs, something liberals say was only done for political reasons.

Prince George MLA Shirley Bond says the Liberals have been clear on their view of the project.

“This is one of the most reviewed project in British Columbia’s history. So it’s wrong for people to suggest it wasn’t reviewed, it has been reviewed significantly over the years.”

In a statement released by the BC Liberal Caucus says “Site C is a vital infrastructure project that will provide, affordable power for 100 years, continued economic growth and play a significant part in the provinces meeting its climate change goals.”

With the NDP proceeding to complete Site C the Liberals will now have to make sure they deliver on their promise says PG-Mackenzie MLA Mike Morris.

“As the minister herself said in estimates, it was on time and on budget by the end of June of this year. We are going to make sure there’s no further unnecessary delays and if there are we’re going to take them to task over that. This project needs to be completed on time and on budget.”
