Stress levels rise this time of year, and it’s not due to thinking about what to get family members for Christmas.
Surveys have found stress, hopelessness , and loneliness levels in students jump around exam season, which is largely due to them trying to pass and maintain a good GPA.
Every year schools hold events to help students manage stress for exams says UNBC Interim Manager of Student Affairs Amelia Kaiser.
“Some of the things we offer students, from an academic stand point, are things like study skill workshop and exam prep workshops. SO students can understand the actually mechanics of studying so it reduces their stress that way.”
Learning how to deal with stress is a life skill students can use when they start their careers.
“Part of what our role is to help students have the skills they need for after they graduate and helping them understand what stress is and how to deal with it and put supports in their life to be successful. Even during stressful times is an important life skill our students need to have.”
