Prince George One of Many Municipalities Teaming Up To Tackle Climate Change

Lets go green to get our globe clean is something the Government of Canada and the Federation of Canada Municipalities are hoping to achieve in the Climate and Asset Management Network(CAMN).

19 communities across Canada will take part in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and adapting to the potential effects of climate change by using strategies to manager their assets more sustainably.

Prince George is on the list where CAMN will offer peer-learning opportunities, training, and $1.6 million in grant funding to help create sustainable goals when it comes to infrastructure assets, such as roads, buildings, water and sanitation systems.

Minster of Infrastructure and Communities Amarjeet Sohi said in a statement “Municipalities will lead the way in finding efficient and innovative ways to plan, build, and maintain infrastructure. The expertise and knowledge shared by this network will help communities across Canada reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate the impacts of climate change. Innovative green infrastructure projects contribute to a clean growth economy and strengthen the middle class by ensuring communities are healthy and sustainable places to live.”

The Municipalities for Climate Innovation Program is $75 Million over a span of five years designed to encourage Canadian municipalities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to climate change.
