Mayor Hall commends RCMP in light of dangerous city rankings

Prince George City Council is relieved by its drop out of the top ten on MacLean’s most dangerous cities list.

After holding on to the top spot a few years ago, the national magazine ranked the northern capital at #11, much to the delight of Mayor Lyn Hall.

Hall adds it’s encouraging to know the RCMP are doing the best job they can.

“We work directly with Superintendent Warren Brown; we have conversations about what’s going on in our community and all over our community. If we as a city council have any ideas that we want to put forward, we’re able to do that because there is a great relationship between the City of Prince George and the RCMP.”

The Mayor also commends two key initiatives by local Mounties to help reduce crime.

“Car 60 involves a great deal of work when it comes to dealing with folks going through a mental illness, and the other one is the foot patrols. We’ve heard the necessity of having more foot patrols in the downtown area, and I know that’s something Superintendent Brown is focusing in on as well.”

He also applauds the police in connecting with local youth to get them out of the gang lifestyle, which has contributed to the City’s crime reduction.
