A meet and greet for burn survivors in Prince George was held Wednesday night at the Prince George Golf and Curling Club.
The group is called Future is Mine and is connected with the BC Burn Fund.

Prince George is the second highest place in Canada of burn survivors, but there was no set support group in the Northern Capital.
“We don’t have a support group here so this is what we’re trying to do,” says Debbie Wood, a burn survivor and Chair of PG Future is Mine.
“So people know that if they need somebody to talk to, somebody who has gone through what they’ve gone through, we’re here for them.”
Wood says the group is new but are doing what they can.
“We’ve had a hot dog sale and a night at Westwood Pub, basically that’s how it all started,” explains Wood.
“That’s really the only things we’ve done so far.”

At the meet and greet, there was a silent auction with all of the proceeds going toward Future is Mine in PG.
Something they hope the money can help fund is a shower at the burn unit at the University Hospital of Northern BC so survivors do not have to travel to Vancouver for treatment as often.
Wood hopes this will be the catalyst for continuing to grow support and awareness in the North.
