Spruce Kings come back from two-goal deficit, tie Alberni Valley

A pair of goals for Ethan de Jong keeps his now seven-game point scoring streak alive, and the Spruce Kings would need them, as Prince George (7-4-2-3) tied Alberni Valley, 3-3.

Following a scoreless first period, the Bulldogs come out swinging in the second, jumping out to a 2-0 lead.

Five minutes later, Nolan Welsh got the ball rolling on a comeback with his second of the season, before de Jong potted his first of the night with under a minute left in the frame.

De Jong then tied for the team lead in goals, scoring his seventh to put Prince George on top for the first time in the game.

Alberni Valley tied the game midway through the period and that’s how it would stay for the rest of the game.

Evan DeBrouwer and Bradley Cooper split goaltending duties for the Spruce Kings, with DeBrouwer making 23 saves.

Prince George now heads to Nanaimo for Sunday’s tilt against the Clippers.
