Sears Canada has been approved to begin liquidating its stores.
This morning, an Ontario court judge gave the department store chain permission to close its 131 locations across the nation, which includes the Pine Centre Mall Sears in Prince George.
This means more than 12,000 employees will be without a job after sales are complete by mid-January.
Sears failed to find a buyer since June 22nd when the company went up for bid; the giant has 74 full-line locations, nearly 50 Sears Hometown Stores, and eight Sears Home Stores.
Liquidation is set to begin this Thursday, October 19th.
