UNBC hopes to attract Winter Games athletes with tuition credit

UNBC announced today that it will be offering 2015 Canada Winter Games athletes and officials a tuition credit to return and study at the university.

UNBC President Daniel Weeks says he hopes to attract motivated individuals with the $2500 credit.

“Athletes in general have the kind of commitment and leadership that we prize here at the university… Showcasing what we have to offer only enriches us. As does having such a diverse group of individuals come to our campus and city. Hopefully we can enrich them in their experience here.”

He added that it would help these elite athletes lessen their already huge financial burdens as they pursue studies.

Those involved believe this is the first time a post secondary institution has created such a partnership with the Canada Games.
