Vanderhoof wants to quiet CN's whistles

Train whistles in Vanderhoof are too loud.
That from Mayor Gerry Thiessen, who says he has even brought the issue up with Canadian National Railway, before taking it to the Union of BC Municipalities Convention in Whistler, this week.
“Certainly , my concern on Burrard is, we already have lights, we have arms that come down, why is there need for a whistle?” Thiessen asks.
Thiessen says he took people’s concerns to CN, first, “We’ve now asked [CN] staff to make this a priority, to see how we can get rid of whistles coming through town.”
Public Affairs Manager with CN, Emily Hamer says whistles are a safety measure with a federally-regulated decibel level, though she says they do work with municipalities who complain about the noise-level of their trains.
