After a two year hiatus, the College of New Caledonia is bringing back the Dental Hygiene Diploma program at the Prince George campus.
“We are absolutely thrilled to be back!” says Karen Lange, dental hygiene program coordinator. “Couldn’t be happier to be back and teaching students again.”
“I love it, I’m super happy this program is back!” says dental hygiene student Robyn Hackman.
Updates to the program range from curriculum outlook to new equipment for the students.

The school has been working on a digitization project over the last five years which is shown on full display in the dental hygiene program.
The new equipment includes new digital sensors for x-ray equipment, a digital panoramic x-ray machine, and computers at every station.
“It enables us to go completely paperless and make the switch to digital and electronic record keeping which will reflect what our students will experience in practice.” Lange explains.
A total of 14 students enrolled in the two–year diploma program. It is the only one of its kind offered north of Vancouver.
The dental hygiene program originally had to close its doors in 2015 due to a $2.8 million deficit from CNC. At the time, the course was not economically feasible.
The revamped dental hygiene course has tabled an increased tuition and fees structure so it is now in alignment with other similar courses across BC.
