Erika Ewacha is enjoying her new position as Prince George Chamber of Commerce CEO.
She’s spent one week on the job since replacing former CEO Christy Ray last Monday. Ewacha has experience working with non-profits like Canadian Red Cross, Parkinson Society BC, Canadian Cancer Society. She also worked for the Terrace & District from 2014-2017, first as the Executive Assistant and then as Executive Director.
“It’s nice to be in a bigger city especially when I moved from Terrace to Prince George I got all sorts of warnings about the weather and I have to keep reminding people I’m from Winnipeg I can handle anything Prince George gives me.”
She’s looking forward to what can be done with more resources and a larger community.
“I’m really excited to be a part of things like the 40 under 40, as well as just the multiple luncheons and workshops and all of this information that we give out for membership. That will be really exciting for me to learn and see what we can offer the community and dive into it.”
Ewacha’s husband took a job in the city a few months ago so she’s been living here for a while. While she’s still learning her new role at work, she’s already settled into Prince George.
“Everyone here is really wonderful and has been very welcoming and very supportive and very helpful so that is a really great team here,” she says, “There’s stuff to do I’ve never been somewhere where I turn my head and everywhere I look there’s a park. It’s phenomenal.”
As a native Winnipegger, she’s ready for what anything Prince George throws at her. Whether it’s the harsh winters or any animosity toward her beloved Blue Bombers.
“Lions are a pretty close second on my list. We probably shouldn’t get into that one too much.”
