UPDATE : Power restored in the Hart following early morning outage

Power is now back on for the 2800 customers in the Hart.

The outage last for two hours and is believed to have been caused by a bird according to BC Hydro.

The affected areas included Chief Lake, Ness Lake, and Salmon Valley.

Several outages occurred Friday morning across northern BC including Williams Lake and Valemount.

A series of power outages across northern BC have been reported by BC Hydro.

One of them is in Prince George says spokesperson Bob Gammer.

“We do have a power outage currently in the Hart in the Chief Lake area, up into Ness Lake and also Salmon Valley with about 2779 customers affected. The power went out just after 6:30 this morning.”

The cause of the outage is under investigation.

Crews are en route to the affected area.

Over 1100 customers are also currently without power in Valemount and another 900 in Williams Lake.

In addition, the recent wildfires have caused power outages to about 7,000 customers as well as significant damage to BC Hydro’s system, including damage to 210 power poles, 93 cross-arms, 115 spans of wire and 33 transformers.
