Thousands of people, including hundreds of dads, filled Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park this Father’s Day for the 43rd annual Show n Shine.
Rows upon rows of old cars and motorcycles lined the lawn near the Exploration Place to be admired in the sunshine.
Dennis MacFayden was showing off his bright orange 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air, complete all of its original parts. He says cruising around in it is something else.
“It makes you feel really special. Everybody is waving and giving you the thumbs up, it’s kind of neat.”
MacFayden has owned the car for three years and only displayed it in Prince George. He’s hoping to take it elsewhere around the province.
“I’m quite confident it runs quite well enough to get to the Okanagan.”
Neil Miller is a part of the PG Vintage Motorcycle Club and was showing off his 1958 Ariel motorcycle. It’s the same model as his first bike, so this one means a lot to him.
“This ’58 was the first bike I had when I was a young man and there was sort of a glint in my eye when I saw it so I had to purchase it.”
He says he’s still got his original and is fixing it up. He hopes to one day have them side by side at events like these.
With the sun out on a beautiful day, Miller says it’s the perfect way to celebrate being a father.
“This is one of the better days, yeah. This is what we do all day.”
