A tense fire season in the Prince George area seems to be in its dying days.
Info Officer Jill Kelsh with the Wildfire Management Branch says the fire situation is calming down in the fire centre.
“Definitely , a change in the weather for the fact that we aren’t seeing the higher temperatures overnight, we are seeing better overnight recovery, it has definitely helped the fire situation,” Kelsh says. “We are looking at a really promising forecast of getting rain throughout our entire fire centre over the next 24 to 48 hours.”
Kelsh says crews have only responded to three new fires a day on average this week, when they would often face ten or more new starts at the height of the summer season.
