UNBC kicks of 25th anniversary celebrations Sept 2nd

UNBC kicks off celebrations for their 25th anniversary Tuesday Sept 2nd with a tree planting ceremony and live music at 1pm.

Founding members and First Nations representatives will dig the hole, students and alumni will plant the tree, and children from UNBC daycare will fill in the dirt, representing the past, present, and future of the university.

Anniversary organizer Kim Hayhurst says these plans have been in the works for a long time;

“We’ve been working for probably several months now” she said “I would actually say we’ve been talking about it for a couple of years knowing that this was a huge milestone for the north. So we’ve been planning what we are going to do and involving the whole community in some of the plans and how they want to celebrate.”

The 9 month long celebration will include a series of events, guest speakers and a large finale commemoration on the official 25th anniversary on June 22 2015.
