A new sign welcoming travellers to the Regional District of Fraser Fort George was unveiled Wednesday, as part of the 2015 Canada Winter Games.
District Chair Art Kaehn says the District is now also an official partner to the games, making the event bigger than just the city.
“It takes in the region as well,” he says. “It’s truly a Northern BC event and of course, funding will be used to support some sustainability initiatives for the 2015 Canada Winter Games, and beyond.”
The $1.5 million in funding will be used to support initiatives such as solid waste and carbon emission tracking and reductions.
