Mackenzie RCMP and the North District Major Crime Unit are investigating what appears to be a suspicious death.
A dead body was found on a property on the community’s east-side on Saturday.
Police say a 17 year-old youth was taken into custody and has been remanded under the Mental Health Act for assessment.
Police do not believe this is a random incident and are working to confirm what happened. No charges have been laid in connection with this matter.
Police have yet to confirm the identity of the victim or how they died.
The BC Coroner Service has been called and an autopsy will be conducted in order to determine the exact cause of death.
