Local First Nation groups miss salary disclosure deadline

Not all local First Nations groups have complied with the federal government’s mandate to post their salaries online.

Tribal Chief Terry Teegee with the Carrier Sekani office in Prince George isn’t surprised that the feds attached a threat to withdraw funding if their financial statements are not submitted.

“What it’s doing is making this relationship a lot more difficult,” Teegee says. “With our communities and the federal government and it’s one of those things where the intent is malicious and against First Nations communities.”

Teegee says full reports have always been available on their web site .
