The gates are open and crowds are already enjoying the 102nd annual fair at the BCNE.
It’s big and busy year for 4H in Prince George, celebrating a century in BC, giving kids confidence and learning about animals.
“I’m looking forward to our celebration on Sunday at 5 p.m.” says Key leader Joyce Foxcroft. “We are inviting our alumni to participate and come and check out how 4H has changed over the years.”
Over the past few years in PG alone, Foxcroft has seen a great deal of change with local 4H clubs, which she says used to be more isolated around the greater city, but have since congregated a lot more closely.
“There’s a lot of local community clubs,” she says. “It’s broken down now into more of a regional area, people now are competing or learning in other clubs on projects that are not offered in their own clubs.”
4H-centric events include numerous types of animal shows and auctions, while other events over the weekend include the likes of motocross, the Stetson Stomp, Alice in Chains, and a meet and greet with Ron Pearlman.
