Rocky Mountain Rangers to train overnight near Prince George

If you’re a night owl or an early bird and live near Shelley Road, you might hear some unusual noises this weekend.

The Rocky Mountain Rangers have some training exercises planned for an area just east of Prince George.

Captain Michael Oviatt commands the Rangers’ B Company and says they’ll be getting started about 9 this evening.

“We’ll be training between Pedscalny Road and Highway 16 just east of Shelly Road. The training is mostly guys walking around looking for other guys and in the morning there’s some potential for the sounds of gunfire. No actual bullets though. We will be moving around in the dark in uniform with our standard assault weapons.”

As part of the exercise, the Rangers will be using blank rounds.
