You can let the city know where you want your property taxes to go without even leaving the house.
The city is recirculating its “Citizen Budget” tool. The online, interactive budget simulator lets you share whether you think 12 different services – from parks to policing – should receive more, less, or the same amount of funding in 2017. You can also punch in your property value and see how much of your money is going to each service.
The City’s Director of Finance Kris Dalio calls this another avenue to voice your opinion. Whether it’s through this tool, a written letter, or a face-to-face meeting, he says he and the city want to know what’s important to you.
“We do always encourage public participation so we have had [the Citizen Budget] open since October, because it tied in nicely with Talktober, and now we’re doing one more push so that we can get people’s heads back into the budget game.”

All information from the budget simulator will be presented to Council on Monday, January 31st, which is the first scheduled budget meeting.
