Drivers urged to be cautious after RCMP respond to 26 collisions over the weekend

The Prince George RCMP are asking drivers to be extra cautious after responding to 26 vehicle collisions in over the weekend.

Some of the incidents were due to challenging road conditions, others involved impaired driving.

On Friday evening, there was a 3-vehicle accident on Highway 97 at 10th Avenue. A man driving a GMC Envoy colliding with two other vehicles in an intersection. He was found to be impaired and issued a 90 day driving prohibition. The vehicle was also impounded for 90 days.

Later that night, a pedestrian was hit by a driver on Upland St. RCMP say it was dark and snowing and the pedestrian was dressed all in black. They were transported to hospital with a possible broken jaw.

Thankfully, most of the collisions were small and did not result in any injuries.

Winter conditions are here. The RCMP are asking that you ensure your vehicle has appropriate winter rated tires and that you drive to road conditions, not the speed limit.

On top of these 26 incidents, RCMP attended motor vehicle incidents in Hixon, Beaverly, Mud River and Blackwater.
